Happy birthday to the heartbeat of the band. The intimidatingly coolest person in any room. The greatest brother, uncle, husband, and obviously drummer. On paper, you’d assume that literally every band would elect for having the best drummer in the game. But miraculously, that experience is reserved for Dawes somehow.

I promise to be quieter in the front lounge when Trevor is ripping jokes in the morning. I promise to try and feel tempos at their more appropriate speed instead of continuing to count things off too fast on stage. I also promise, between now and the end of time, to trust every percussion idea you have on a recording because even though I don’t always know what you’re getting after at first, it invariably ends up becoming one of my favorite parts of the song.

I love you so much and this is gonna be your best year yet.
